Coaching Cadence

What’s new

Each update to Coaching Cadence, newest first. An update is named for the day it arrived: 26.9.30.0 is the first one on September 30, 2026.

  1. Three soccer drills for restarts

    26.10.2.2 ·

Three new soccer drills for restarts: free kicks, kickoffs and defending corners. We wrote them ourselves because good videos were hard to find.

    • NewQuick Free Kick Game (U8 to U12): a small game where a free kick taken fast, before the other team is set, can score double.
    • NewKickoff Plays Game (U9 to U14): every goal restarts with a kickoff, so teams run two simple kickoff plays again and again.
    • NewDefending Corners Points Game (U11 to U14): a no-heading corner game where defenders score points for clearing the ball wide.
    • BetterThese three have no video. Good restarts videos with real kids were hard to find, so each one spells out the setup, steps and cues.
    • BetterSoccer teams now have six restarts drills to choose from.
  2. Links that look right when you share them

    26.10.2.1 ·

Invite links and shared practices now show a proper preview when you text or post them, and an invite opens on a page that says what it is.

    • NewOpen an invite link before signing in and you see a short page: what Coaching Cadence is, that you’re invited to coach a team, and Sign in to join.
    • BetterTexting an invite link shows a card saying you’re invited to coach a team. It never names the team or the coach who sent it.
    • BetterShared practices and the Sign in, Help, What’s new and Privacy pages show the Coaching Cadence card with a line about the page.
    • BetterA shared practice’s preview still leaves out the team’s name and the practice’s title.
  3. More soccer drills, now from U6

    26.10.2.0 ·

Six more soccer drills, including the first games for the youngest players (U6), each approved by a coach and with a checked video.

    • NewThree games for the youngest players, ages U6 to U10: Duck Tails and Dinosaur Tag (dribbling warm-ups) and Space Wars (finishing).
    • NewTwo passing games: Barcelona, where a goal is worth one point for every pass before it, and Divide and Conquer.
    • NewA dribbling session, Skills Tunnel Hat-Trick, that adds defenders one step at a time.
    • BetterU6 teams now have soccer drills made for their age, and Swap has more soccer drills to choose from.

    • NewAbout 30 basketball drills across every skill group, from warm-ups and ball handling to rebounding, defense and games.
    • NewEach one was chosen for grades 3 to 6 and approved by a coach, and its video opens where the drill starts.
    • BetterRecommended basketball practices now have drills to build from.
  7. Basketball teams

    26.9.30.6 ·

Choose your team’s sport when you set it up. Basketball teams get their own drills, grouped by basketball skills.

    • NewNew team asks which sport the team plays: soccer or basketball. Teams you already have are soccer.
    • NewBasketball drills get their own groups, like Ball handling, Shooting and Rebounding, and are shared only with basketball coaches.
    • BetterCoach in both sports? The drill library switches between them, and a practice offers only drills for its team’s sport.
    • BetterA team’s sport stays fixed once it has a practice, so a practice never mixes sports.
    • BetterCoach in both sports? Adding or drafting a drill names its sport, and asks when you haven’t picked one. Invite pages show the team’s sport.
    • Better“Match prep” is now “Game prep”, and the Privacy page lists the sport among what we keep about your teams.
  8. We hear about problems sooner

    26.9.30.5 ·

When a page breaks on our side, we now get a short report so we can fix it. It never says who you are or what you typed.

    • BetterWhen a page fails on our servers, we get a report saying what failed and on which kind of page, so we can fix it faster.
    • BetterThe report never includes your name, email, what you typed, or which practice or team it was. Nothing is sent from your phone.
    • BetterShared practices, invite links and the sign-in page are never reported, to keep them private.
    • BetterThe Privacy page names the service that gets these reports and exactly what it receives.
  9. A plain-English Privacy page

    26.9.30.4 ·

What we store, who can see it, which services handle it, and how to have it deleted.

    • NewA Privacy page, linked from sign-in, Help and every shared practice.
    • BetterFind a video says that searching uses YouTube and its Terms of Service.
  10. Coach a team together

    26.9.30.3 ·

The head coach can invite the other coaches on the team, so everyone plans from the same practices.

    • NewHead coaches: invite a coach from your team page. Copy the link and text it; they sign in and tap Join team.
    • NewCoaches on a team see every practice on it, and can plan, change, print, share and run any of them.
    • NewOnly the head coach, who made the team, changes its details, its invite link and who coaches it.
  11. Stay signed in, and a way to reach us

    26.9.30.2 ·

Signing out on one device no longer signs you out everywhere, and there is an address for questions.

    • FixedSign out now signs out only the device you tap it on. Your phone stays signed in for practice.
    • NewQuestions, or something not working? Email hello@coachingcadence.com. It is on the Help page too.
  12. A friendlier sign-in email

    26.9.30.1 ·

The email with your sign-in code is easier to read, and new coaches get a short welcome.

    • BetterYour code is large and easy to copy, with how long it lasts right under it.
    • BetterA first-time email welcomes you and says what happens next, in three steps.

    26.9.30.0 ·

    • BetterThe sign-in page says what Coaching Cadence is. On your first visit, the same code sets up your account.
    • BetterIf a code doesn't work, you get one clear message and a Send a new code button, with no retyping your email.
    • BetterAfter you sign in, you land on the page you were trying to open.
    • BetterSetting up a team is simpler, and a team with no practices points you to planning its first one.
    • BetterThe practice box reminds you to leave out players' names.
    • FixedIf a practice can't be recommended, your words stay in the box and no empty practice is left behind.
    • BetterA shared practice and Practice mode say what they are, for an assistant seeing them for the first time.
    • Fixed"No videos on this plan" no longer says links were checked when a drill simply has no video.
    • BetterYou are asked to rate a practice once its day has passed, not straight after building it.
    • BetterHelp describes the app as it is today.
  14. Practice mode on the field, and star ratings

    26.9.29.4 ·

Practice mode now works with no signal, and you can rate each activity after practice.

    • NewOpen Practice mode once with a signal and it is saved on your phone, so it opens with none. You can add it to your home screen.
    • NewWater breaks show what to set up for the next activity.
    • NewFinish practice, then rate each activity from 1 to 5 stars.
    • BetterYour 4 and 5 star drills come first. Drills you rate 1 or 2 stop being recommended to you, unless you pin them.
  15. A countdown timer in Practice mode

    26.9.29.3 ·

A reminder to keep the practice moving, set to each activity’s minutes.

    • NewStart a timer on any activity. It chimes at zero and shows how far over you are.
    • NewPause, add a minute or restart. Next moves the timer on to the next activity.
    • NewSee whether the practice is on schedule or behind.
  16. Practice mode

    26.9.29.2 ·

Run the practice from your phone, one activity at a time.

    • NewEach activity gets its own screen: what to say, how it runs, what to bring and its video.
    • NewThe whole practice at a glance, with one tap into any activity. Swipe or tap Next to move on.
    • NewYour assistant can open it from a share link too, with no account.
  17. A safer sign-in

    26.9.29.1 ·

Sign-in now keeps out automated sign-ups.

    • BetterA quick automatic check at sign-in stops robots. Most people never see it.
  18. Recommendations remember your team

    26.9.29.0 ·

Recommended practices now take the team's recent practices into account.

    • BetterA team's first practice is kept simple: quick to explain, early wins and plenty of game time.
    • BetterLater practices look at the last few, so the team gets variety.
